A truly purpose-built survival tool, OKC's Pilot Survival Knife is a classic. Featuring a clip-point blade with sawtooth spine, grooved leather grip, and hammer pommel, the Model 499 Knife provides a downed airman a range of capabilities. The pilot survival knife was originally designed by Marble Arms Company, then manufactured on contract for the US military by Camillus and now by Ontario Knife Company. It has been in service for more than five decades, and still sees use by the US military today. Each knife comes with a metal-tipped leather sheath and sharpening stone. Features: Each 499 Pilot Survival Knife has a 5 in. plain edge blade, 9.5 in. overall length, and a .17 in. spine thickness. Constructed from 1095 carbon steel hardened to an HRC of 50-55 with a zinc phosphate finish for weather and environmental resistance.
