Yoruba Tribe Ife Bronze Head Sculptures – Ife head sculptures are among eighteen bronze combination figures that were uncovered in 1938 at Ife in Nigeria. Ife, also known as The Kingdom of Ife, is a religious Yoruba City and historic royal center of the Yoruba people in modern-day Osun State, Nigeria's southwestern region. Ife's artists began creating a polished and extremely naturalistic sculptural tradition in stone, terracotta, brass, and copper works made using the cire perdue method (lost-wax) in the late 12th or early 13th century and established a style unlike anything else in Africa at the time.
