Hi-Flyer: (48") Light Casting Shark Rig
The original Hi-Flyer. Meant for delivering larger baits far into the surf. The Hi-Flyer's 48" overall length and 20" wire section make for a smooth, powerful cast. Plenty of wire to handle the mouth of a larger shark and longer mono section for abrasion protection. The Hi-Flyer is available in a second model. Also 48" long this rig uses a smaller 9/0 hook and shorter wire length at 16" (#18 wire). A sinker slide is used to attach weights rather than a coastlock snap, allowing a fish to run for 30 inches before feeling the sinker. That distance may seem insignificant, but in that short time a shark or large fish could "re-grip" a larger bait. A lot of success has been had with both versions of the Hi-Flyer. Each rig has advantages in different situations. Both have proven themselves many times over. Our largest red drum to date was caught on a Hi-Flyer slide rig.
