In 1923, her first book, Flower Fairies of the Spring was published. Both Summer and Autumn Flower Fairy books would follow and the Winter version was assembled post-humously from her work in 1985. Barker was greatly influenced by the works of Kate Greenaway.  She donated most of her artwork to fundraisers for churches and missionary organizations.
