This is a pair of antique late Victorian or Edwardian era silver plated knife rests made in England 1880-1900. Each knife rest or cutlery holder measures 3 inches long by 1.5 inches high by 1.75 inches wide. The knife holder or knife rest has a barley twist bar and andiron ends shaped like a fancy letter A. They are in very good +++ used vintage condition but have been used quite a bit and show plating loss, especially to the bar and inside feet of one of the ends. A wonderful example of the victorian love for gadgets and housekeeping. A great way to keep the tablecloth clean. Knife rests are enjoying a renaissance for use on dining tables, tea tables...I have even supplied knife rests for use at sommelier tables and loved by food bloggers!
