Description Believe it or not, Bazooka gum was originally a Jewish-owned tobacco company, owned by Morris Chigorinsky who had emigrated from Russia in 1891. After changing the family name to Shorin, his four sons, Abram, Ira, Joseph and Philip, (in an attempt to save the failing family business,) started a candy company with a range of candies including Bazooka gum. Capitalizing on post war patriotism, the gum was named after the rocket propelled Bazooka utilized by US troops during World War II and incorporated red white and blue packaging. With its vibrant apple red top and bright blue lower half, the subject lends itself to a vibrant, dramatic rendition, especially at the larger size of the original.
