APC ART is pleased to offer our global collector base this absolutely stunning, one-of-a-kind original painting by internationally celebrated artist Marquis Lewis, known professionally as RETNA. This large-scale work measures 30 inches by 44 inches, executed with watercolors on wove paper in striking shades of deep green, turquoise blue, and bold black. The result is a composition that is simultaneously explosive and controlled, showcasing RETNA’s distinctive visual language—what the artist himself has coined as “Margraves.” The work is hand signed on verso by RETNA, inscribed with “Margraves” —a name he applies both to his calligraphic identity and to his constructed script, often referred to as his “secret language.” Derived from Hebrew, Arabic, Egyptian hieroglyphics, Old English (Blackletter), and traditional street graffiti, this script is instantly recognizable and represents one of the most unique visual languages in all of contemporary art.
