The Crack

After multiple years of non stop instantaneous sell outs, collectors’ disappointed from ”lottery” results and a frenzied secondary market; Martin Whatson and Graffiti Prints teamed up one more time to close out 2021. The result was (two) 12 hour, timed edition, embossed, screen prints that put a smile on every collectors face, after a very trying two years (on all fronts). ”The Crack” is Whatson at his best; a monochrome figure is seen on a ladder, seemingly painting an ever widening crack of Whatson’s brightly colored, calligraphic graffiti against a monochrome backdrop. The colored crack is expertly silkscreened (seven colour) and is even embossed (as can be seen from the back of the print). The work bares both the artist’s and the publisher’s blind stamp.
