Offered TRUE is large scale letterpress from Shepard Fairey. Usually the OBEY letterpress prints are on the smaller side, this edition is a healthy 20.5” x 15.25”. The work incorporates the portrait the artist originally made for his ”Make Art Not War” print back during the Iraq War. Another element of this work is the ”Third Eye” (which has many different meanings depending on the context), blooming like a flower. This could signify anything from a rebirth to a new way of interpreting situations in one’s own life, this is truly the beauty of art, at times the viewer is left to interpret the meaning. A letterpress is different than a standard print, as the process leaves the image textured and debossed. See the last few pictures for examples.
