Known for producing high-quality battery-operated mechanical toys during the post-war years, ALPS specialized in a variety of toys including robots, cars, musical chimps, clowns, and wind-up animals. Founded in 1948, Alps Shoji Ltd. quickly gained a reputation for their durable, imaginative, and well-crafted toys. This early version of the "Television Spaceman" robot features the distinct metal antenna key used to activate its functions.
