Gran Cocle Gold Creature Effigy Pendant Bell
Panama, Ca. 500 to 1520 AD. A gold bell in the form of a turtle like creature with hollow dome body, flat horizontal flippers and tail. The head is in bird form with pellet eyes and slender beak. The hollow body has a free floating clapper. Loop hole for suspension on underside. Dimension: Size 1-5/8 in L x 1-1/2 in W.; 18k; weight 18.8g. The pendant is 18K gold piece as indicated by the XRF analysis report from Manhattan Gold & Silver Inc. The elemental composition shows 75.27% gold (Au), 4.10% silver (Ag), 20.47% copper (Cu), and 0.16% iron (Fe). The analysis was performed recently on December 23, 2024, using an ElvaX spectrometer.
