A Thought From The Mind Of Little Ms Sunshine - Original

The inspiration for the Little Ms Sunshine series came from working with middle school students on a project called "You have a voice." I was invited by the Social Studies and Art teachers at Mission Dolores Academy in San Francisco to collaborate on a project for their students. The teachers told me the kids were very attuned to our world right now, and have a real interest in making a difference.  I shared my work with them and talked about the creative process. Afterwards the students were given complete freedom to choose their topic of interest and medium of expression I was very moved by the work the students created that reflected on immigration, and police violence. I finished the project feeling hopeful and inspired. Original Mixed media on panel 16 x 20 inches April, 2021
