This Chawan was hand modeled from white stoneware clay. It was first bisque fired to 1000 degrees centigrade. The tenmoku glaze was mixed from formula and with raw ingredients. After being glazed, the Chawan was fired in a small gas kiln to 1300 degrees centigrade. `The tenmoku glaze is thick, shiny and black. It breaks to rust brown over the texture of the hand modeled bowl.
