From Belle Pente: This is the second edition of our newest estate Pinot, a special barrel selection from a section of the vineyard planted in 1999, the year our daughter Riona was born. This block is distinctive due to a vein of volcanic ash embedded in the sandstone formation beneath the vineyard, imparting a distinct spicy character that is unique to this part of the property. The wine is made with a slightly heavier dose of whole cluster than we typically employ, and was raised in 50% new Burgundian oak barrels just like our Estate Reserve.
