Wide Eyes

18X24" oil on canvas I go through phases. I paint landscapes for a month, and then I’ll switch to animals for a few weeks. It’ll probably be like that forever. I had been working on a very special piece for my cousin who passed. The scene was one of the hardest technical and emotional pieces I’ve ever done, and one day I needed to take a mental break. Thus, this piece was created. I needed to do something totally different and get some color on the canvas. The realistic face with hints of abstraction has always made me happy.
