New cria born on the farm are an endless source of inspiration for me.  This painting depicts a female named "Silvia" doting on her newborn, who was quite happily napping in the sunshine. I had fun experimenting with texture in this piece.  You can see by looking at the detail shots that the background paint is fairly low texture, while the alpacas and foreground have high texture.  This really brings the alpacas into focus, and mimics the effect of a telephoto camera lens. The sides of the canvas are painted, so there's no need for framing, and a wire for hanging is installed. "Sweet Dreams" is ready to go on display as soon as it arrives.
