Australian (Sheet Glass) Roll Up

If you are unsure of your skill level, please email studio@bagi.org  This class is designed to expand the student’s foundation in fused and blown glass. Australian Roll-up is a specialized hybrid technique to design and produce a finished blown glass artwork without the use of a furnace. In this class, students will design and create a three layer 7”x10” fused glass tile that will later be used create a blown glass vessel. They will learn how to prepare the fused glass tile for a rollup in the hot shop. In the final step, students will learn how to heat the tile, pick it up with a blow pipe, roll it up and blow it into the desired shape.  This is a 3-day class with two 3-hour preparation sessions  during the week building on techniques to create a fused tile and a single 8-hr weekend day to complete the roll ups.
