Reef or Aquarium Beads

Prerequisites: Intro to Beadmaking or equivalent experience  In this class you will create reef beads and mini aquariums. We will explore how to make some of the components of a reef, including shells, seaweed, twisty coral, jellyfish and how to apply them along with premade murrini to both small and focal beads. The morning session will start with pulling seaweed cane and shell cane. The instructor will demonstrate how to apply seaweed cane, make three different shells from the shell cane, and apply them to small beads for bracelets or necklaces. In the second half of the class, you will learn how to pull jellyfish tentacles and coral from filigrana rods and how to apply them to the bead. The instructor will cover how to apply, the seaweed, shell and other murrini to the bottom of the bead to make the sea floor and adding fish to your seaweed and coral background. Skills learned in this class: pulling and cutting cane, applying murrni and encasing murrini.
