18th C Antique Queen Anne Connecticut Tilt Top Tavern / Hutch Table

With our highest compliments and utmost honors, Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this exceptionally rare 18th century antique Queen Anne Connecticut Chestnut tavern / hutch table. We strongly believe this is a Connecticut table and have searched for similar examples in local house museums and in America’s finest public & private furniture collections. We’ve searched our extensive reference library but even in our specialized Connecticut furniture books there aren’t as many examples as a more prolific cabinet making city like Boston, Philadelphia, or New York. The table would have been originally painted with a milk paint that was lost to oxidation, cleaning, & handling over 250+ years. The table has a large rectangular 2 board top and pivots with ease. The table has robust arms with fantastic frame and panel construction with deep hand chamfered panels rich with tool marks.
