The entire table is constructed from old growth black walnut which has traditionally been the primary wood of choice in Pennsylvania since the colonial era. The black walnut lumber featured in this table is considerably denser compared to ordinary walnut and the difference becomes apparent whenever the table must be handled. The table features a two-board top which overhangs the entire table frame as traditional antique tavern tabletops often do. The center of the table has a single drawer which is constructed from a walnut drawer face and a well oxidized country secondary wood. The drawer has a finely chamfered drawer panel visible from underneath as well as exceptional hand cut dovetails joining the drawer frame together.
