A large, deeply cast, and artistic bookend with a design of the four horsemen of the apocalypse that is more like a bronze sculpture then a bookend. The piece has very good detail even down to the blades of grass. This antique bookend is very rare.   The back of the bookend has a stippled texture. The base is flat and shows golden brass highlights where it has rubbed on a surface. There is no felt on the base. The bookend is very heavy and will hold up books nicely.   A cast mark on the back reads SOLID BRASS. There are also 2 circles with a design in one. I am unable to make out the marks.   MEASUREMENTS 6 in (15.2 cm) wide x 2 ½ in (6.4 cm) deep x 6 ¾ in (17.1 cm) tall. Weighs 3 lbs 11.0 oz (1660 g)   CONDITION There are no dents, breaks, cracks, or chips. There are a few spots of verdigris. The piece has a nice rich brown patina from age.    A great bookend that has a very sculpted artistic look. It will act as a bookend or a work of art.
