Chinese Porcelain Camel Water Dropper Cobalt Blue Qing/Republic c 1900
An aged water dropper in the shape of a resting camel with saddle bags that has been glazed with cobalt. There is a hole in the saddle for adding the water which will pour from the camel’s mouth. The eyes are black dots on the unglazed buff clay. The glaze has pooled and thinned in spots giving design outlines. It has a very soft, thick feel from time, use and oxidization. The base is flat and shows some glaze. There are no marks or labels. MEASUREMENTS 2 ½” (6.4 cm) long x 1 ¼” (3.2 cm) wide x 2 ¼” (5.7 cm) tall. Weighs 2.8 oz (80 g) CONDITION There are no breaks, chips, cracks, or repairs. There are numerous wear scratches. The glaze has oxidized and the piece feels very smooth and soft when held.
