
Set of Three Hand Painted Chinese Porcelain Spoons early 20th Century
Three well-painted old Chinese porcelain spoons with a nice dark cobalt blue color. Accurately painted and thinly potted Chinese porcelain spoons with transparent rice patterns in bowls of each spoon. The cobalt underglaze varies from deep blue to smoky blue. The white base glaze has a slight blue tint. The larger spoon has a twisted wire mounted to the spoon with cement that was used for hanging. The base of each spoon has five small saggar marks. MEASUREMENTS Large spoon – 5 5/8” (14.3 cm) long x 1 13/16” (4.6 cm) wide x 1 ¾” (4.4 cm) tall (standing) Each smaller spoon – 4 7/8” (12.4 cm) long x 1 11/16” (4.3 cm) wide x 1 11/16” (4.3 cm) tall (standing) Total weight 2.7 oz (75 g) CONDITION There are no cracks, chips, or breaks. There are light smudges of the cobalt underglaze on the backs and there are kiln flaws, such as black spots and pimples. Three spoons to rest in nice blue and white bowls. Use them for decoration or for egg drop soup.
