English Staffordshire Painted Splatterware Bowl 19th Century
A colorful ceramic Staffordshire bowl hand painted with spatter paint in a design of blue and red flowers. The rim is painted red. The bowl has a raised foot with a glazed base. A black stamped mark on the base is a pair of lions on both sides of an oval. Under the design are the words STAFFORDSHIRE ENGLAND. MEASUREMENTS4 7/8” (12.4 cm) diameter x 2 7/8” (7.3 cm) tall. Weighs 9.1 oz (250 g) CONDITIONThere are no cracks, repairs, or breaks. There are rim frits and a tiny chip on the rim. There are customary manufacturing flaws, such as smudges, reserves, spots, pinholes, and other glaze imperfections. A few of the tiny pinholes in the interior of the bowl, the rim frits, and a scratch on the rim are stained. There is wear and crazing throughout. The crazing is especially visible in the well.
