Japanese Bronze Dragon Vase Gourd Shaped Meiji Period

A well-cast and heavy bronze vase with an interesting gourd shape and a baby dragon twining around the body and neck. The vase has a raised foot. MEASUREMENTS 8 7/8” (22.5 cm) tall x 4 ¼” (10.8 cm) diameter. Weighs 1 lb 8.0 oz (700 g) CONDITION The bronze was over cleaned at one point but has now aged enough to have a mellow golden color. I actually prefer the warm gold like coloration. It brightens a room and is quite noticeable without being glaring. There are no cracks, dents or breaks. There are small oxidization spots and a few spots of scale inside the mouth. An artistic and elegantly-shaped bronze vase with good detail and a wonderful color. A vase where the minimalist artistic sense really works.
