A Japanese molded red clay vase with sinuous dragons on each side of the mouth. The heavy red clay vase has molded dragons on each side of the mouth and textured clouds that encircle the dragons. There are molded key fret and diamond flourishes used as bands at the mouth and base. Gilding has been used to decorate the dragons and to show stars in the clouds. There is a shallow foot. There are no marks or labels. MEASUREMENTS 10” (25.4 cm) tall x 5” (12.7 cm) diameter. Weighs 1 lb 14.3 oz (860 g) CONDITION There are no chips, cracks, or breaks. The gilding on the dragons has significant wear but is visible in place. A nice sized vase with a very Japanese flair.
