Japanese Igezara Charger Crane Motif Circa 1900

A large and heavy porcelain Japanese charger with detailed stencil designs of cranes flying and other very ornate designs in cobalt blue. The decorations are extensive and intricate.The stencils show depth by using different amounts of intensity of the cobalt. A charger has a shallow, rounded, unglazed foot. The base is glazed and has a single saggar mark in the center. The glaze is thick and soft.MEASUREMENTS13 ¼” (33.7 cm) diameter x 1 7/8” (4.8 cm) tall. Weighs 3 lb 9.4 oz (1620 g)CONDITIONThere are no cracks, chips, breaks, or repairs. The charger looks like it was hardly used and shows little wear. There are small irregularities in the stenciling, such as smudges and skips, as well a few black spots and pin holes from manufacture.A large decorative Japanese porcelain charger that will add richness and age to the home.
