Qing Chinese Jade Chimera Pendant Plaque Pale Green 18/19th Century
A very pale green - almost white - jade that has been carved with a Chimera holding a Lingzhi fungus of longevity in its mouth. It could be used either as a plaque or pendant. The carving is exact, deep, well rounded and artistic. The jade has a dense weight and a good translucence. It has a nice, soft hand polishing. The back is also carved with crosshatching and scrolling. There is a carved depression in the center for attachment. The arm of the chimera at the top facilitates a hole for a pendant. MEASUREMENTS 2 3/8” (5.9 cm) long x 1 ½” (3.8 cm) wide x ½” (1.3 cm) thick. Weighs 1.02 oz (29.0 g) CONDITION There are no cracks, chips, hairlines, or breaks. There are many uneven wear scratches over most surfaces. A great jade to hold and admire. It will be a welcome addition to your antique jade collection.
