A heavy shoe match holder in the shape of a Victorian lady's high-top shoe. It has ridges on the base to light a match. The heavy cast iron match holder is nicely detailed and sharply cast. The shoe has a black patina with hand-painted gold embellishments, including the fastener buttons. The base has been painted with a stippling design that approximates granite. The base underside has two flat head screws with washers that hold the shoe to the base. MEASUREMENTS 5 ¼” (13.3 cm) tall x 4 ¾” (12.1 cm) wide x 3 ¼” (8.3 cm) deep. Weighs 1 lb 14.3 oz (860 g) CONDITION There are no cracks, dents or breaks. There are small losses to the black and finish. The piece still looks very complete. A wonderful old piece of utilitarian object that was used and admired.
