Victorian English Cranberry Glass and Brass Sugar Shaker 19th Century
A colorful sugar shaker from Victorian times that was prized for its deep cranberry color. The faceted molded cranberry glass base has a pierced brass shaker topped with a knob finial. The lid might have originally been silverplated and has had all of the silver polished off. That said, the brass has developed a patina which complements the cranberry glass. The piercing is decorative with a definite pattern. The base of the glass is flat. The facets give a refracted light pattern. Neither the glass or shaker is marked. MEASUREMENTS 5 ¾” (14.6 cm) tall x 2 ½” (6.4 cm) diameter. Weighs 8.2 oz (230 g) CONDITION There is one chip at the base. I am unable to remove the top and so it might be cemented on. There are bubbles in the glass from manufacture. The base shows wear from movement on a surface. A colorful cranberry glass to add to your collection. It will look great in a window.
