White Victorian Asparagus Food Mold 19th Century
A deep design of asparagus decorates this antique food mold. The heavy ceramic food mold has a reverse design of a bundle of asparagus in the interior. Asparagus was a luxury in the Victorian era and was used as a motif to decorate this ceramic mold. The off-white glaze is thick, crazed soft and shiny. A molded mark on the base reads No. 41 over the number 6 with a triangle. MEASUREMENTS 6 ¼” (15.9 cm) long x 4 ¾” (12.1 cm) wide x 2 ¼” (5.7 cm) tall. Weighs 14.6 oz (415 g) CONDITION There are no hairlines, breaks, or repairs. There is a chip by the head of the asparagus bundle in the interior. There are brownish stains on the foot, exterior and interior. There is crazing to the glaze. A fun, different food mold to add to a collection or to use for display.
