This bike was built at a time when mountain biking was just starting to catch on. Specialized was one of the first to mass produce a mountain bike, starting with the Stumpjumper and then later introducing the Hardrock in 1987. The first year Stumpjumper was tig welded and by 1983 they opted for a lugged frame. This was one of the first Stumpjumpers ever made! It is the 159th to be exact. If you have been following for a while, I had #409 that was just like this! Unfortunately, when I bought this one, it had a shot suspension fork and the owner lost the original biplane fork after moving multiple times. That gave me the green light to have some fun with the build and add some updates. My favorite parts are the prototype Curve brakes and TA Specialites crankset.  The frame is in good condition but shows sign of use. It has some paint chips and has some patina but no dents, bends, or cracks. The fork and headset are brand new. The tires are older Ritcheys and are starting to dry up. It's
