Baetis Spinner - Rusty

The Baetis Spinner - Rusty is a fly more anglers should have on hand.  When mayflies finish reproducing, they die on the surface of the water with their wings spent out to the sides like an airplane.  This final phase of the mayflies life cycle is called the spinner and many mayfly species, including most Baetis, turn a rusty color in this spinner phase.  The Baetis Spinner - Rusty is a must have when fishing in the spring and fall and can be a pattern to keep in mind when you see fish rising but don't see mayfly duns hatching on the surface.  Fish the Baetis Spinner - Rusty dead drift like other dries.  If you can't see it, put an easy to see fly in front of it like a Parachute Adams.
