Mayfly spinners are the lesser know dry fly opportunity for many trout anglers. Spinners are mayflies that are ready to lay their eggs and then die with their wings out to the sides, lying flush to the surface of the water. When trout are on spinners, it can be great dry fly fishing, but hard to see what they are eating. This Rusty Spinner is the color of many mayfly spinners, often including the PMD, Callibaetis, BWO and other mayflies we commonly see.
