The Abercrombie Modern Tartan can be traced back to 1831, when it was recorded in a book of James Logan called '' The Scottish Gael'' The name's origin comes from the tiny parish that is Abercromby located in Fife. The title and lands were granted to a patron from Edward 1 of England, who was later William de Abercromby suggesting a Norman source. The Abercromby title passed to a different segment belonging to the same family during the 17th century and was the Abercrombies of Birkenbog in Banffshire.
