Clethra 'Vanilla Spice'

Clethra alnifolia 'Vanilla Spice' Also called Summersweet, ‘Vanilla Spice’ is a delightful shrub that will attract all of your favorite pollinators, including hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. Its attractive, glossy, dark green leaves set off the pure white crisp flowers.  The flowers are wonderfully fragrant - reminiscent of root beer! Expect blooms in summer. Plant it near the deck or patio to enjoy the sweet scent in mid-summer.  Selected for its extra-large flowers, individual florets are roughly double the size of other varieties reaching 10-12" long. Clethra is amazingly adaptable, growing well in full sun or partial shade, and in moist or dry conditions. This variety is a late bloomer and can also be used as a hedge. Prune to shape in late winter and fertilize in the spring.   Arrives to you in a 1 gallon pot.
