The Beethoven Frieze, The Longing for Happiness In 1901, ๐—ž๐—น๐—ถ๐—บ๐˜ painted the ๐—•๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ต๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ป ๐—™๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜‡๐—ฒ for the 14th ๐—ฉ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ป๐—ฎ ๐—ฆ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜€๐˜ ๐—ฒ๐˜…๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฏ๐—ถ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป in celebration of the composer, and featured a monumental polychrome sculpture by Max Klinger. Meant for the exhibition only, the frieze was painted directly on the walls with light materials. After the exhibition the painting was preserved, although it did not go on display again until 1986.
