This is a medium-sized, wide-bodied species originally described from Italy, but can also be found along the border between France, Monaco, and Italy. They typically inhabit karst shoreline habitats within these areas. The species displays sexual dimorphism, with females having a white ombré on their skirts. They breed slower than most Armadillidium and, like all Armadillidiidae, can roll into a ball when disturbed. They prefer higher ventilation and drier conditions, much like other European Armadillidium species.
