This is a color mutation of Armadillidium maculatum, which is a medium-sized species found in Southeastern France and Northwestern Italy. Individuals vary in appearance from completely banded to completely spotted. They are known for their prolific breeding and ease of cultivation. Like all Armadillidiidae, they can roll into a ball when disturbed. They prefer drier conditions and higher ventilation, much like other European Armadillidium species.
