Ease to Grow: Moderate to Challenging.Dormancy: NoNative Range: Highlands of Hidalgo, MexicoZones: 10-11 (8-12) The True Blue Agnata Butterwort, is a cultivar of Pinguicula agnata, is an easy to grow Mexican butterwort with large broad leaves and nice blue flowers. Its thick and succulent leaves have a strap-like shape with rounded ends. As with its Mexican butterwort kin, it has large carnivorous leaves in the warm, wet Summer, and only slightly smaller succulent leaves in the cool, dry Winter. It prefers damp, loose, alkaline soils, and partial shade with warm, wet Summers and cooler, dry Winters. Its native habitat is on the north facing cliffs of canyons cut deeply through limestone mountains in semi arid steppe climates. It flowers in late Spring with several blue flowers. It benefits from the addition of a small amount of pellet limestone added to the soil (1 teaspoon/4" pot).
