Farms are scattered around the rugged and mountainous terrain surrounding the town, with an average farm size of only one to two hectares and elevation between 1900 - 2200 meters above sea level. Farmers grow the Ethiopian landrace varieties Kurume, Daga, and Wolisho, and intercrop the plants with local native trees like false banana for shade and fertilization.
