Crystal Point Viking Knit Bracelet // BrassViking knit is also known as Trichinopoly chain. The technique for making this kind of chain was known to and used by Viking Age Norse, but similar wire weaving has also been found in Greek, Roman, and Byzantine as far back as the 1st century BCE. The technique is essentially a weaving of wire in a circle tube like pattern and then pulled through a draw plate to elongate the design. Even though it is one continuous piece of wire, this technique creates a rather flexible and aesthetically dynamic design. For this bracelet I wanted to create a design that had a bohemian flair with more of a current feel while celebrating and highlighting an ancient technique. I utilized this knit chain that I created with brass wire, capped it in brass end caps and embellished it with a hand forged brass hook, a wire wrapped crystal quartz point, an antler charm and a vintage aqua charm. It is eye catching and full of fabulous texture and lovely dangly elements.
