Sustainability is an important part of my artistic practice, and this piece was created using rusty metal pieces placed on wet canvas to create interesting marks. Rebar is a steel building material used to reinforce concrete. I place the rebar rods on wet canvas and allow them to rust. Developed in layers, the rebar is used to build an intricate web of interlaced lines creating a beautiful patina of texture and depth.
