Delicate and Serene, this picture of two nuns arranging flowers for the altar makes me wish I was there doing it with them. The painting is called "In His Honor," and the painter was Louis Emile Adan (1839–1937). Aden painted lovely, tranquil scenes of people in rural life and other "genre" paintings, including some religious ones, of which we have another in the shop. He painted at least two versions of this painting; we think this is the better one. Original is oil on canvas, 31.9 x 23.6 inches. Aden lived for almost a hundred years, and we suspect the tranquility in his paintings comes from a tranquility in his soul, and a reason he lived so long.
