Maremono - Asamushi Sencha
Tea Profile Type: Light-steamed Sencha Cultivar: Blend Region: Ehime Farmer: Waki Junki Tasting Notes Aroma: Jasmine floral in the nose with stone fruit, papaya. A sweet smell. Taste: Complex. Loquat, buttered popcorn, edamame. Somehow, the fruit and vegetal flavors balance nicely. Light body. The Story Maremono could be translated as "the one and only". This is a lightly-steamed sencha from the mountains of Ehime Prefecture. The farm is small, and has been there since the 1950s, working to preserve and promote the unique terroir of the region. The farm has won national awards from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries for sustainable farming practices. The grower, Waki-san, does not use pesticides or sprays, instead working to cultivate the natural ecosystem - using ladybugs and bees, and other beneficial insects, to take care of pests. The tea we picked out this year is Waki-san's first-flush, lightly-steamed asamushi sencha. Beautiful golden in color an
