Charles Roy Smith was born in February 1922 in Wadesboro, North Carolina. Early in his life, he recognized his talent and love for art and determined he would make it his future. With the help of a teacher who helped finance his art lessons, he began the study which has helped him become a fine-expressive artist. Through pains-taking, time-consuming work, he has created memorable paintings. Smith has often been compared to Monet. He compared art to music.
