10" Crosby Steam Gauge & Valve Clock, 1909
The Crosby Steam Gage (sic) and Valve Company from Boston, Massachusetts was one of the early manufacturers of steam whistles, engine indicators, hydraulic pumps and other parts used on trains and automobiles. If you are fascinated by the history of clocks and engineering, this antique steam gauge clock is perfect for your collection. It was handcrafted by Chelsea Clock and sold to Crosby on January 6, 1909, for use in their factory. We recently were able to reacquire this clock and have restored it to excellent working and aesthetic condition for a clock enthusiast who wants a unique piece. When made, this was known as the Eight Day Marine Clock (Model E), an early Chelsea Clock for land and sea. It has a seven-jeweled mechanical movement, nickel-plated case, 10-inch silvered dial and large mahogany base.
