In 1977, Dale Chihuly set out to interpret in glass the essence of softly slumping and aging fiber baskets woven by indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest. “Like an Indian youth at the climax of his spirit quest, he felt some inexplicable connection with the baskets and through them with something universal,” says Northwest historian Murray Morgan. This 10th Anniversary Special Edition Russet Flame Basket is a unique handblown sculpture measuring approximately 11 inches tall and is signed by the artist, Dale Chihuly.
