Our Dunlop style wheel is a finely detailed re-creation of Jaguars famous racing wheel as fitted to ‘D’ Types and Lightweight ‘E’s.  The 1951 XK120 C, or C-type, was Jaguar Cars’ first factory-sponsored attempt at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It competed with wire wheels.  The 1954-1956 D-type was modernized with a functional, new, lightweight wheel.  They were also run on many of the famous Lister-Jaguar models. Dunlop, the famous English tire company, provided Jaguar with ultra-modern, lightweight, aluminum alloy wheels.  These solid wheels were not only stronger than wires, but were lighter and virtually maintenance-free. The D-type wasn’t the only car to sport Dunlop’s new alloy wheels.  Donald Healey ran his streamlined, 100-based Bonneville, and endurance record cars on them.
