Hadjira
Jamey Haddad is an acclaimed stage artist - performing with Paul Simon as his percussionist from 1998 till 2019, currently featured with Bokante, - as well as a remarkably influential teacher - Berklee College of Music from 1992 to 2010, and currently At Oberlin Conservatory and the Cleveland institute of Music. Our Artist Innovation Series HADIRA exemplifies in Jamey's dynamic, fluid, integrative approach to drumming. This hybrid/fusion tambourine was our first in our Artist Innovation Series,. The design has changed over the years as Jamey's focus and playing styling has evolved. For example, the most recent incarnation follows Jamey’s enthusiasm for pandeiro style playing. The Hadjira was originally designed to combine kanjira, riq and pandeiro jingles in a unique configuration. The shell is larger than a kanjira but smaller than a pandeiro, and deep like a riq. A limited numbers of jingles in specifically isolated positions help emphasize the percussive drum sound of the tambo
